DRIVE is an interactive, research-based prevention program for middle-school aged youth. The curriculum consists of six, 50-minute sessions. The program is based on the Health Belief Model and Social Emotional Learning Theory and aligned with the Michigan Model for Health Education. Key factors from these models are incorporated into 6-sessions designed to increase the likelihood that participants make positive decisions in regard to critical health issues. The DRIVE program introduces young people to the information and helps develop the skills that they need to make wise and healthy decisions. Concepts are reinforced through highly-interactive experiential techniques that make lessons engaging and fun for students. The six DRIVE lessons address high-risk behaviors that are critical to the social-emotional development of young people. Lessons include: Strengths & Values; Relationships; Bullying; Sexual Health; Substance Use; and Decision-Making.
