Strengthening Families is a nationally and Internationally recognized, best practice program. This evidence based parenting and family program is designed to increase resilience and reduce risk factors for behavioral, emotional, academic, and social problems. The Strengthening Families Program builds on protective factors by improving family relationships, parenting skills, and improving social and life skills for youth. This program is geared towards parents/caregivers and their youth ages 10-14. Lesson topics include: Love & Limits, Making House Rules; Encouraging Good Behavior; Using Consequences; Building Bridges; Protecting Against Substance Abuse; Getting Help for Specific Family Needs; Supporting Goals & Dreams; Appreciating Family Members; Building Family Communication and more.
- 7 sessions
- Each session 120 minutes in length plus an additional 30 minutes for meal time
- Families meet together for opening icebreaker and finish with a curriculum-guided family activity.
- Parents and youth meet separately for an hour of skill-building activities
