As a Kalamazoo native, Martha is excited to be back in her hometown and to have the opportunity to work with an organization that does so much to make southwest Michigan a safe and healthy place to live.
Growing up in a family with deep roots in the local mental health community, Martha developed an early interest in the building of inclusive and supportive environments that help each of us reach our full potential and thrive. Utilizing the Kalamazoo Promise, Martha attended the University of Michigan where she found a great fit for this passion in the fields of psychology and public health. After seven years of academic and postgraduate research, she is excited to apply her skills outside of the lab and to learn more about the world of nonprofit and community coalition work. Having started off as a volunteer with the Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention Task Forces, Martha has now officially joined the Prevention Works team as Project Assistant.
When not in the office, you can typically find Martha in the pool, on a bike, baking pie, or walking the woods with her puppy Greta!
